About German 2 Bundesliga

The German 2. Bundesliga is the second highest professional football league in Germany, below the top-tier Bundesliga. It was founded in 1974 and consists of 18 teams, with the top two teams at the end of each season earning automatic promotion to the Bundesliga. The teams that finish in third through sixth place compete in a playoff to determine the third team that will be promoted to the Bundesliga. Similarly, the bottom two teams are relegated to the 3. Liga, while the team that finishes in 16th place competes in a two-leg playoff against the team that finishes in third place in the 3. Liga to determine which team will play in the 2. Bundesliga the following season. The league is known for its competitive matches and passionate supporters, and has produced many successful clubs and players over the years.
