About South African Premier Soccer League

The South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) is the top professional football league in South Africa, consisting of 16 teams. It was founded in 1996, and replaced the National Soccer League. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the National First Division, and its winners are awarded the PSL trophy. The season typically runs from August to May, with each team playing 30 matches in total (15 at home and 15 away). The PSL is known for its high-quality football, and has produced many top players who have gone on to play at the highest levels of the game.
