About English National League

The English National League is a professional football league consisting of 24 teams, making it the fifth tier of the English football league system. The league operates on a promotion and relegation system with League Two and the National League North/South.

The National League season typically runs from August to May, with each team playing a total of 46 matches - twice against every other team in the league. The top team at the end of the season is automatically promoted to League Two, while the teams that finish in second to seventh place enter a playoff to determine which team will join them in the higher division the following season.

The bottom four teams in the league table at the end of the season are relegated to the National League North or South, depending on their location, with the teams that finish in 20th and 21st place entering a playoff with the teams that finish fourth to seventh in the North/South divisions to determine which teams will play in the National League the following season.

The National League features a mix of clubs from across England, with a range of experienced players and up-and-coming talent. Many clubs in the league have a strong history and are well-supported by local fans. The league offers an opportunity for clubs to compete at a high level and gain promotion to League Two and eventually the higher levels of English football.

Some notable players who have played in the National League include Jamie Vardy, Charlie Austin, and Ian Wright, among others. Overall, the National League is an important part of English football and offers an exciting and competitive environment for teams and players looking to progress to the higher levels of the sport.
