About NHL

NHL stands for National Hockey League, which is a professional ice hockey league in North America. The league is made up of 32 teams, with 25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. The NHL is widely considered to be the premier professional ice hockey league in the world.

The NHL was founded in 1917 and has since expanded and evolved over the years. The league's regular season typically runs from October through April, followed by the Stanley Cup playoffs, which conclude in June. The playoffs are a best-of-seven series format, with the winning team being awarded the Stanley Cup, the oldest professional sports trophy in North America.

The NHL features some of the world's top hockey players, with many of them hailing from Canada, the United States, and other countries. Some of the most popular and successful teams in the league include the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Boston Bruins, among others.

The NHL also has a number of unique rules and features that set it apart from other professional sports leagues, such as the use of a "penalty box" for players who commit fouls and the ability to substitute players on the fly during the game.
