About English National League South

The English National League South is a regional division of the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system. It is one of two leagues at this level, with the other being the National League North. The league is made up of 22 teams from the south of England, and it operates on a promotion and relegation system with the National League and the Southern League Premier Division.

The National League South season typically runs from August to April, with each team playing a total of 42 matches - twice against every other team in the league. The top team at the end of the season is automatically promoted to the National League, while the teams that finish in second to seventh place enter a playoff to determine which team will join them in the higher division the following season.

The bottom three teams in the league table at the end of the season are relegated to the Southern League Premier Division, with the team that finishes in 18th place entering a playoff with the teams that finish fourth to seventh in the Premier Division to determine which teams will play in the National League South the following season.
