About English League One

The English Football League One, also known as League One, is the third tier of professional football in England, below the Premier League and the English Football League Championship. The league consists of 24 teams and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the EFL Championship and EFL League Two.

The League One season typically runs from August to May, with each team playing a total of 46 matches - twice against every other team in the league. The top two teams in the league table at the end of the season are automatically promoted to the EFL Championship, while the teams that finish in third to sixth place enter a playoff to determine which team will join them in the higher division the following season.

The bottom four teams in the league table at the end of the season are automatically relegated to EFL League Two, with the team that finishes in 21st place entering a playoff with the teams that finish third to seventh in EFL League Two to determine which teams will play in League One the following season.

League One features a mix of clubs from across England, with a range of experienced players and up-and-coming talent. The league offers an opportunity for clubs to compete at a high level and gain promotion to the EFL Championship and eventually the Premier League.

Some notable players who have played in League One include Jamie Vardy, Dele Alli, and Raheem Sterling, among others. Overall, League One is an important part of English football and offers an exciting and competitive environment for teams and players looking to progress to the higher levels of the sport.
